OUR PLEDGE
The Whaletown Community Club aims to foster a welcoming and harassment-free environment.
This Code of Conduct, which from here on will be referred to as the “Code”, outlines our behavior expectations for all WCC members, volunteers and guests whom visit any and all WCC properties. This code does not supersede protections offered by Canadian law.
A. Pledge Details
Upon entering any WCC property, you are agreeing to the following;
To help create a safe and nurturing environment for all, regardless of gender, age, sex, sexuality, race, nationality, education, socio-economic standing, appearance, body size, caste, colour, religion, experience, ability, or non-threatening quarks.
OUR STANDARDS
Examples of behavior we love to see include:
* Giving and gracefully accepting constructive feedback
* Accepting responsibility and apologizing to others when you have made a mistake or have been rude.
* Helping when others ask or appear to be in need.
* Doing what is best for the community and not just yourself.
* Having a great time, but not ruining others enjoyment in order to do so.
* Being empathetic and kind to others
* Removing yourself if it appears your presence may further exacerbate a situation.
Examples of unacceptable behaviour include:
* Public or private harassment. This includes discriminatory or prejudicial comments
* Verbally abusing another person
* Refusing to shift behaviour if you are told that your current behaviour is making others feel uncomfortable and/or unsafe.
* The use of sexualized language, imagery or behaviour with anyone without consent
* Being physically violent in anyway.
Enforcement Policy
If you are found in violation of the above Code you will be given a warning and asked to leave. Depending on how extreme the violation, or upon receiving 3 warnings, you will be banned from WCC property and events for the foreseeable future. This decision can be overturned only by appealing to the WCC board.
Any criminal activity committed on WCC property will equate to an immediate ban.
If a banned person continues to cause harm on WCC grounds, law enforcement may be involved.
